Range and Facilities


Our practice facilities include a driving range, a putting green, and a pitching range. These facilities are available for members and guest golfers.


Driving range has 12 bays, and targets at 100, 150, and 200 yards. It also includes a practice sand bunker.


Putting green presents an opportunity for golfers to practice a series of breaking and sloping putts before teeing off.


Pitching range, located next to the clubhouse, offers 10-, 25-, and 50-yard targets and sand bunkers for practicing the short game.

Head Golf Professional

Jeff Hamilton has been the head golf professional at the Sault Ste. Marie Golf Club since 2001. He is a Class A CPGA professional responsible for all golf programs, tournaments and events at the SGC. Jeff is also in charge of Golf Instruction, the Pro Shop and its staff, and the training facilities.


Jeff is originally from Nova Scotia, where he grew up working at golf courses and playing competitive golf highlighted by representing Nova Scotia at the 1987 Canadian Junior Golf Championship. After graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce (1992) degree from the Saint Mary's University in Halifax Jeff joined the historic Toronto Golf Club as an assistant golf professional. During his time at Toronto Golf Club, Jeff was the low qualifier (1993) at the Ontario PGA Playing Ability Test and completed the five-year Canadian PGA Apprentice Program within only four years (1994) to become a Class A CPGA Professional. From 1996 to 2001, Jeff functioned as the associate golf professional at Mississaugua Golf & Country Club, under the tutelage of former PGA tour player and Head Golf Professional Gar Hamilton.


Jeff’s service to the golf industry in Ontario was recognized with his

selection as the Northern Ontario PGA Head Professional of the

Year in 2008. As well, he’s been a consistent top 5 performer in

Northern Ontario PGA events.
